Introduction
I love learning about Arabic culture. For the past several years, I have been very interested in music from the Middle East, but I would like to discover more about the culture- beyond music.
Do you speak Arabic? If so, what dialect(s). Do you know Modern Standard Arabic (FuSHa?) Can you read, write or speak FuSHa? Your answers will help us better offer suitable language workshops for the club.
No, unfortunately I do not, but I have an interest in learning.
Have you visited the Middle East, &, if so, where & in what capacity? For that matter, where have you traveled outside the US? Do you speak any other languages besides English & Arabic? No, this info won't be shared with the FBI !
I briefly visited Dubai en-route to another destination, but I would like to properly visit the Middle East.
How did you find this group and, now that you're here, what do you want from it? For example, do you prefer Middle Eastern Music events, Dinner Parties, Language Workshops, Live Theatre, or just getting together to meet new people and have fun?
I heard about this group after joining the Mideast Music Meetup group a few months ago and receiving an e-mail from the Arabic Meetup group organiser.
Do you have any experience working with Non-Profits? I ask because I'm considering establishing the club as a Non-Profit in the near future.
Yes, I work in a non-profit, but I am not really aware of how one establishes a non-profit.
What is your current job/profession/field? What is your dream job?
My background is in international relations and human rights, and I work in a non-profit. My dream job is to work in international human rights in some capacity.
