Introduction

Hi, my name's Taher. I'm Egyptian-American. I'm looking to meet new people and make new friends. I'd like to be more involved in the Arab community, so I thought this would be a good avenue.

Do you speak Arabic? If so, what dialect(s). Do you know Modern Standard Arabic (FuSHa?) Can you read, write or speak FuSHa? Your answers will help us better offer suitable language workshops for the club.

I speak the Egyptian dialect of Arabic pretty fluently. I would love to improve it and learn Fusha. My reading and writing could use a whole lot of work too.

Have you visited the Middle East, &, if so, where & in what capacity? For that matter, where have you traveled outside the US? Do you speak any other languages besides English & Arabic? No, this info won't be shared with the FBI !

Egypt. Almost all of my extended family is there. Historically, I've gone about every 5 years. I've traveled to Paris, Beijing, Shanghai, Vienna, and Prague. Italy's next! I still remember a little French from high school.

How did you find this group and, now that you're here, what do you want from it? For example, do you prefer Middle Eastern Music events, Dinner Parties, Language Workshops, Live Theatre, or just getting together to meet new people and have fun?

Searched for arab groups on MeetUp. Want to connect with more arabs to improve my Arabic, and to enjoy the culture with more new people. All those kinds of events to the left sound great. The more the better.

Do you have any experience working with Non-Profits? I ask because I'm considering establishing the club as a Non-Profit in the near future.

No, but I have a lot of experience running a business, which could translate on the operations side of a non-profit.

What is your current job/profession/field? What is your dream job?

I run a tutoring center for kids ages 4-14. We work on all the fundamental academic skills. I run the business and tutor the kids as well.
